Amadou & Mariam perform in A Room for London, a one-bedroom riverboat installation lodged atop the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, tonight, as part of the Sounds from a Room series. It will be projected live via large screen at Queen Elizabeth Hall and stream live online at aroomforlondon.co.uk. Earlier events at A Room for London include new sound works from Laurie Anderson and David Byrne. Other performers in the series include Andrew Bird, Imogen Heap, Baaba Mal, and tUnE-yArDs.

Amadou & Mariam, whose new album, Folila, was released in the US last month via Because Music / Nonesuch Records, are the latest artists to perform in A Room for London, a riverboat lodged atop the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, with their set tonight at 6 PM GMT. The performance, is part of the Sounds from a Room series, held in A Room for London, a one-bedroom installation designed by David Kohn Architects in collaboration with Fiona Banner and situated on the roof of the Hall. It will be projected live via large screen at Queen Elizabeth Hall and will stream live online at aroomforlondon.co.uk.

Earlier events at A Room for London include a Sounds for a Room performance from Laurie Anderson and a new soundwork by David Byrne. Other performers in the series include Andrew Bird, Imogen Heap, Baaba Mal, and tUnE-yArDs.

A Room for London, a collaboration between Artangel and Living Architecture, in association with Southbank Centre, is also hosting artists of other disciplines invited to use the room as their studio to reflect on its place in the world in 2012 through writings, readings, performances, and more. The Artangel program is supported by the London 2012 Festival and Arts Council England. It is part of the London 2012 Festival, a UK-wide festival featuring leading artists from around the world as the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad. Also participating in London 2012 Festival events are Kronos Quartet, which will perform Terry Riley's Sun Rings at the Zaha Hadid-designed Riverside Museum Glasgow on July 15, and Rokia Traoré, who will perform a trio of solo dates as well as Desdemona, her collaboration with Peter Sellars and Toni Morrison, at the Barbican in London July 19 and 20.     Kronos Quartet has announced its ninth-annual Kronos Festival, to take place at SFJAZZ Center, June 20–23, 2024. The festival marks the ensemble’s milestone 50th Anniversary year and the farewell performances of John Sherba and Hank Dutt, members of Kronos Quartet for more than 45 years.
