Audra McDonald returns to the stage in this summer's Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night. Audra, a four-time Tony winner, is making her Public Theater debut in the role of Olivia, joining a stellar cast that includes Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway, who stars as Viola, and Raúl Esparza, star of the 2007 Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Company. The show, directed by Daniel Sullivan, will run June 10–July 12 at the Delacorte Theater in New York's Central Park.

Audra McDonald returns to the stage in this summer's Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night, New York's Public Theater has announced. Audra, a four-time Tony winner, is making her Public Theater debut in the role of Olivia, joining a stellar cast that includes Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway, who stars as Viola, and Raúl Esparza, star of the 2007 Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Company. Twelfth Night has been produced by The Public Theater in Central Park six times since 1958. The first production was directed by The Public's founder, Joseph Papp, with a cast that included Maria Tucci, William Windom, and Peter Bogdanovich.

Next up in the Shakespeare in the Park schedule will be Euripides’s The Bacchae, translated by Nicholas Rudall, directed by JoAnne Akalaitis, and featuring original music by Philip Glass. It will run August 11-30 and will be performed as it author intended, in the open air of the city.
