Congratulations to Audra McDonald, who has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Limited Series/TV Movie for her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill on HBO. McDonald made history and became Broadway's most decorated performer when she won her sixth Tony Award for Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill in 2014. Congratulations to Audra McDonald, who has been nominated for an Emmy Award for her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill on HBO. She was nominated in the category of Lead Actress in a Limited Series/TV Movie. The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on ABC on Sunday, September 18. McDonald won an Emmy Award in 2015 as host of PBS's Live from Lincoln Center.

Audra McDonald brought her acclaimed portrayal of Billie Holiday from Lanie Robertson's musical play Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill to HBO in March. Filmed before a live audience at Café Brasil in New Orleans, the special features McDonald in her performance as Billie Holiday, telling the jazz icon's life story through the songs that made her famous.

McDonald made history and became Broadway's most decorated performer when she won her sixth Tony Award for Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill in 2014. In addition to setting the record for most competitive wins by an actor, she also became the first person to receive awards in all four acting categories.

Audra McDonald’s fifth solo album, Go Back Home, was released on Nonesuch Records in 2013, and followed her previously released albums Build a Bridge (2006), Happy Songs (2002), How Glory Goes (2000), and Way Back to Paradise (1998).

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
