Ben Folds launches a month-long tour of Australia, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea this week with a performance at the Royal Theatre in Canberra, Australia, Wednesday night, followed by two nights at the State Theatre in Sydney this weekend. Opening throughout the Australian tour is Brisbane singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke. Folds returns to the States for a number of headlining dates and festival sets this summer. Prior to taking off for the Southern Hemisphere, Folds spent some time in his Nashville studio working on his rendition of Ke$ha's "Sleazy," a tour set favorite, and has donated the track to Download to Donate: Tsunami Relief to support Japan relief efforts. He has now released a video for the song, produced by Ryan Lerman, featuring behind-the-scenes clips from the recording session. You can watch it below, via Folds's YouTube channel. Count MTV's Buzzworthy Blog among the fans of this unconventional pairing. MTV's Eliot Glazer, in reporting on the cover, calls Folds "a musician's musician: someone who knows everything one needs to know about the craft of songwriting." Glazer goes on to describe Folds's take on Ke$ha as "a welcome experiment. Sure, Ben's face may not be smeared in glitter, and he may not be wearing tattered leggings (oh, what we wouldn't give!), but dude still sounds great. We don't know what's more epic: the cover of the song or the mere fact that it happened in the first place!"
