Ben Folds brought his Lonely Avenue tour to New York City on Tuesday for a sold-out show at the beautiful Beacon Theater. It was the final show in the fall leg of the tour, with more shows in store starting late next month, including two just-announced shows in Missouri and Oklahoma. "Ben Folds is doing fine, thanks," says the Village Voice's Rob Harvilla in his review of Tuesday's show at the Beacon. Harvilla describes the songs of Lonely Avenue, Folds's latest album, for which Nick Hornby wrote the words, as "stupendously likable." Folds participated in some more likable music-making last night, this time from judge's table on NBC's The Sing-Off. In this penultimate episode of the a cappella contest's second season, Folds and his fellow judges narrowed the groups down to four remaining competitors vying for the $100,000 prize and a recording contract. It's now up to the viewers to decide which group will walk away as champions when the winner is announced on Monday's live finale show.
