The Black Keys spent the weekend at two of the summer's biggest festivals: the inaugural New American Music Union festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Friday, and the Virgin Mobile Fest in Baltimore, Maryland, on Sunday, with a stop at The NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia, in between.

Covering Friday's event for the Beaver County Times and Allegheny Times, Entertainment Editor Scott Tady felt "every pulverizing, purifying guitar blast blues riff from the Black Keys threaten to make passé all those wisecracks about Pittsburgh being stuck in the past." Even so, at least one nod to the past wasn't unwelcome when Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis, who programmed the event, compared the group's performance to Jimi Hendrix's historic set at Woodstock. After Saturday's set at The NorVa, Virginian-Pilot reviewer Jeff Maisey says, "The sound of fury was surprisingly impressive for a two-piece group." He credits "the primal nature of the music" with keeping the "the vocal audience engaged." Read the full review at hamptonroads.com.
