Brad Mehldau was featured on BBC Radio 3's Radio 3 Requests program this past Sunday to offer the Guest Request Choice for the week. Speaking of grunge hits, after a play of the Oasis tune "Wonderwall," as reimagined by the Brad Mehldau Trio on the 2008 Live album, Mehldau asks host Fiona Talkington to play Tippett's Fantasia Concertante on a theme of Corelli. Talkington speaks with Mehldau, whom she describes as "a musician who has a great power to surprise," about his choice of the 20th-century British composer's 1953 Fantasia, which he calls "a gorgeous piece"

You can listen to the program online now at bbc.co.uk. You'll find "Wonderwall" and the interview with Brad starting at about an hour and 23 minutes in. You'll find the Brad Mehldau Trio's Live album and the Nonesuch Store-exclusive Live: The Complete Friday Night Sets digital edition in the Nonesuch Store.
