Ride, Rise, Roar, the concert film documenting David Byrne's 2008-09 tour, Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno, receives its UK premiere today in a one-night-only event screening. Byrne will attend the premiere at the Ritzy Picturehouse in Brixton, London, and participate in a live post-screening Q&A that will be broadcast simultaneously to dozens of cinemas across the UK.

The film, directed by Hillman Curtis and shot with multiple cameras over several concerts during the 2008-09 tour, blends onstage performances with intimate details of the creative collaborations that make the music and performance happen. Between the songs, the film gets up close with Byrne and the band, documenting behind-the-scenes auditions, rehearsals, and interviews with key players while revealing the creative process that led to the show's unique fusion of pop music and modern dance.

Byrne appeared on BBC Breakfast earlier this week to discuss the unique style of dance he incorporated into the performances, as seen in the film. You can watch the segment, including clips from Ride, Rise, Roar, at bbc.co.uk.

Ride, Rise, Roar received its world premiere at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, on March 15, 2010, and has since been shown at film festivals around the world. Wired magazine said the film, "filled with great songs and some really bizarre, energetic and sexy dancing," is "a downright beautifully shot and edited concert film."
