David Byrne will deliver the address at the 160th Commencement ceremony of Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, on Saturday, May 23, 2020. He will also receive an honorary doctorate degree at the ceremony, along with Laurie Anderson and others.

David Byrne will deliver the address at the 160th Commencement ceremony of Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, on Saturday, May 23, 2020. He will also receive an honorary doctorate degree at the ceremony, along with Laurie Anderson and others. The program will take place in the Commencement tent on the Seth Goldfine Memorial Rugby Field that afternoon.

David Byrne was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on NBC earlier this month, with host John Mulaney. Byrne performed Talking Heads' "Once in a Lifetime" and his 2008 tune with Fatboy Slim, "Toe Jam," two songs featured in David Byrne's American Utopia on Broadway, with musicians from that production. He also helps Mulaney steer Pete Davidson clear of La Guardia Airport sushi. You can watch all of the above along with a web-exclusive interview about his previous appearances on SNL here.

The celebrated production of David Byrne’s American Utopia will return to Broadway’s Hudson Theatre in September 2020. Spike Lee has directed a filmed version of David Byrne’s American Utopia that will launched in collaboration with the Broadway hit in the fall. The cast album for David Byrne's American Utopia, including two-CD and two-LP versions, is available everywhere via Nonesuch Records here.

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
