David Byrne will present a short video/audio lecture called Creation in Reverse at The Bell House in Brooklyn, New York, tonight. The program looks at the ways that venue and context shape artistic creation and will be followed by an audience Q&A. The event is free, and admission is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

"If you could somehow harness the indefatigable energy of artist/musician/author/activist David Byrne," the Village Voice suggests in its listing for the event, "we imagine you could light the whole city with it—and then some."

Speaking of such eco-friendly ideas, Byrne will be presenting some of the ideas he lays out for alternative transportation in his recent book Bicycle Diaries at Philadelphia's Academy of Natural Sciences on February 4 as part of a sold-out Urban Sustainability Forum event from the Center for Environmental Policy. Later that month, he'll be a presenter at the prestigious TED Conference in Long Beach, California.

Byrne's collaboration with Fatboy Slim, Here Lies Love, a double-disc song cycle exploring the life of Filipino first lady Imelda Marcos, is due out on Todomundo/Nonesuch on February 23 [now April 6].
