David Byrne will be honored at the Spring Gala Benefit for The Kitchen, one of New York City’s oldest nonprofit performance spaces, tonight. The Honorary Chairs for tonight’s event include Caetano Veloso and Nonesuch President Robert Hurwitz. Set to perform are Dirty Projectors, Doveman, Nico Muhly, and St. Vincent, a featured vocalist on Byrne’s latest Nonesuch release, Here Lies Love.

David Byrne will be honored at the Spring Gala Benefit for The Kitchen, one of New York City’s oldest nonprofit performance spaces, tonight at Capitale in New York. The Honorary Chairs for tonight’s event include fellow Nonesuch artist Caetano Veloso and Nonesuch President Robert Hurwitz.

Set to perform at the Gala are Dirty Projectors, Doveman, Nico Muhly, and St. Vincent, a featured vocalist on Byrne’s latest Nonesuch release, Here Lies Love, the two-disc song-cycle collaboration with Fatboy Slim on the life of Imelda Marcos. On the guest list for tonight are Cindy Sherman, Shalom Harlow, Justin Theroux, Josh Hartnett, and Charlotte Ronson, among others. The Gala will be followed by an After-party featuring a live music performance by Chief.

Proceeds from The Kitchen’s Spring Gala Benefit will support artistic and production fees for The Kitchen’s annual presenting season, which features experimental work by innovative artists, both emerging and established. Programs range from dance, music, and theatrical performances to video and media arts exhibitions to literary events, film screenings, and artists’ talks.

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
