Devendra Banhart and longtime friend, musical collaborator, and fellow singer-songwriter Andy Cabic (Vetiver) will tour California in October 2014, performing both individually and together in a casual mix of older and newer material. Banhart joins Iron and Wine and Stephin Merritt for Nonesuch Records at BAM in Brooklyn on September 19 and Caetano Veloso and Andrew Bird at the Hollywood Bowl on September 21.

Devendra Banhart and longtime friend, musical collaborator, and fellow singer-songwriter Andy Cabic (Vetiver)—who together formed the vanguard of an experimental and folk-influenced aesthetic that emerged in the Bay Area around the turn of the millennium—will tour California in October 2014, performing both individually and together in a casual mix of older and newer material, including Banhart's 2013 Nonesuch Records debut album, Mala. Prior to the tour with Cabic, Banhart has two special triple bills this month: he joins Iron and Wine (Sam Beam) and Stephin Merritt at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn on September 19 as part of BAM's celebration of Nonesuch Records' 50th anniversary, Nonesuch Records at BAM; and he joins label mate Caetano Veloso and Andrew Bird at the Hollywood Bowl on September 21.     Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
