k.d. lang's extensive tour of Canada with songs from her latest Nonesuch release, Watershed, continues this week, after several stops across the expanse of her native land, which recently announced that she would be among the newest inductees to Canada's Walk of Fame.

"Still thrills, this voice," says the StarPhoenix's Joanne Paulson, after last week's show in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. "The voice, not unlike her most recent lyrics, is like a river: Smooth, clear and pure. It bends at turns, flows into deep pools and the bird of the top note soars above it all."

The Edmonton Sun's Mike Ross rates this past weekend's performance there a perfect five, writing:

They call this former Edmontonian a "torch" singer, which must be because she sets fire to everything she sings---proven several times during an incredible show at the Jubilee Auditorium ... Flawless technique, perfect pitch, impeccable control and a vast arsenal of power held in reserve until it really mattered. Few singers can wring emotion out of a song like k.d. lang. The hometown crowd was captivated by the best voice in adult contemporary music today.

k.d. lang's last words to Edmonton on Sunday night were "I love you." And how much does Edmonton love k.d. lang? Four and a half standing ovations, two encores, and many a whoop and holler, plus an honourary degree from the University of Alberta to be presented to her on Wednesday.
