The SXSW Music Conference gets under way in Austin, Texas, this week as thousands of bands and music lovers from all over the world descend on the live-music capital for several days of non-stop music making. Nonesuch artists will be well represented among them, with a dozen performances to come from Emmylou Harris, Jessica Lea Mayfield (one of SPIN's 35 Must-Hear Acts at SXSW), and Wanda Jackson. Many of the events will be broadcast live on the radio and online for fans around the world to hear.
The South by Southwest (SXSW) conference got under way in Austin, Texas, last Friday with the interactive and film portions of the week-long, multimedia event kicking things off and included a screening of the music video for Philip Selway's "By Some Miracle," off the Radiohead drummer's Nonesuch debut solo album, Familial. Tomorrow marks the start of the SXSW Music Conference, when thousands of bands and music lovers from all over the world descend on the live-music capital for several days of non-stop music making. Jessica Lea Mayfield is included among the 35 Must-Hear Acts at SXSW according to SPIN magazine, and with good reason. Fresh off her performance at this weekend's 35 Conferette in nearby Denton, Texas, Mayfield is scheduled to make more than half a dozen SXSW appearances, starting Wednesday afternoon with a performance at the Billy Reid & K-Swiss Shindig, presented by American Songwriter magazine, at The Swan Dive; she's scheduled to go on at 1:30 PM Austin time (CST). Later that day, she performs the first of her two official SXSW showcases when she takes the KCRW Radio Day Stage at the Austin Convention Center, at 4 PM. Fans in and outside of Austin can listen in live at kcrw.com.
The next day, St. Patrick's Day, folks in Austin have three opportunities to catch Mayfield. She performs at the Warner Bros. Records showcase at Hotel St. Cecilia at 1 PM; then heads to Waterloo Records for a free performance in the store's parking lot starting at 3 PM, also streaming live at waterloo.com; and closes out the day with her second official SXSW showcase, at St. David's Historic Sanctuary at 9:15 PM.
On Friday, the big Rolling Stone party is going on all afternoon at La Zona Rosa, and Mayfield will be there to perform at 1 PM. That too will be streaming live online at rollingstone.com. Seattle's KEXP is broadcasting live from Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop, where Mayfield performs Friday afternoon at 4:30 PM; tune in to kexp.org to hear that set.
Finally, on Saturday, Mayfield caps off her SXSW stay with a 2 PM performance at the Cactus Café presented by University of Texas radio station KUT. Tune in to kut.org for live coverage.

Emmylou Harris gives her first performance of this year's SXSW at the Austin Convention Center on Thursday afternoon as part of the Radio Day Stage showcase presented by New York public radio station WFUV. Curated by the station's music director Rita Houston, the showcase begins at noon and also includes performances from Josh Ritter, The Head and the Heart, and The Belle Brigade. Harris goes on at 12:30 CST; listen in online at wfuv.org. Later that night, she gives her official SXSW showcase performance, taking place at Antone's on West 5th Street at 11:15 PM.
On Friday, Harris will join IFC's SXSW coverage live from the Crossroads House on Brazos Street, starting at 1 PM, which you can watch at ifc.com.
Harris gets Austin radio station KGSR's Saturday coverage in gear with a 9:30 AM performance, broadcast live from the Four Seasons Hotel. Listen in online at kgsr.com.

Wanda Jackson will be among the performers and revelers at Rachael Ray's Feedback Party at Stubb's BBQ on Saturday, March 19. Jackson will be headlining on the Stubb's stage, which will also see performances from The Bravery, Tapes 'n' Tapes, Eli "Paperboy" Reed, and others. The festivities begin at 10:30 AM and continue till 4 PM.
