Congratulations to Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, who took home the Duo/Group of the Year Award for their album The Traveling Kind at the Americana Music Association Honors & Awards ceremony last night at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. They also performed the album track "Bring It on Home to Memphis." Other winners include Sara Watkins, Instrumentalist of the Year, and Shawn Colvin, who received the Lifetime Achievement Trailblazer Award. The PBS series Austin City Limits will broadcast a special featuring performance highlights from the event on November 19.

Congratulations to Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, who took home the Duo/Group of the Year Award for their 2015 album The Traveling Kind at the Americana Music Association Honors & Awards ceremony last night. The event took place at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, where Harris and Crowell also performed the album track "Bring It on Home to Memphis." The longtime friends had previously won the same award for their debut duo album, Old Yellow Moon, at the 2013 ceremony pictured above.

Other winners last night include Sara Watkins, who was named Instrumentalist of the Year (picked up on her behalf by her brother and Nickel Creek bandmate Sean Watkins); Shawn Colvin, who received the Lifetime Achievement Trailblazer Award from Bonnie Raitt and performed the song "Diamond in the Rough"; Billy Bragg, this year's recipient of the Spirit of Americana Free Speech Award; and Woody Guthrie, the posthumous recipient of this year's President's Award.

The Americana Honors & Awards ceremony was shown live on NPR.org last night. The PBS series Austin City Limits will broadcast a special featuring performance highlights from the event on November 19.

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
