Emmylou Harris is the subject of a feature interview in Relix magazine, in which she discusses her new record, Hard Bargain, and the many unforgettable artistic collaborations Harris has made over the years, not least with Gram Parsons, about whom she wrote the album's opening track, "The Road." She is currently touring North America. Of her set at the Dave Matthews Band Caravan, the Chicago Tribune writes: "Achy, sympathetic and warm, Harris' quivering whippoorwill voice was the most effortlessly beautiful sound heard at the festival."

Emmylou Harris is the subject of a feature interview in Relix magazine, in which she discusses her new record, Hard Bargain, released earlier this year on Nonesuch, as well as the many unforgettable artistic collaborations Harris has made over the years, not least with Gram Parsons, about whom she wrote the album's opening track, "The Road." You can read the article at relix.com.

Harris continues her North American summer tour following last weekend's sets at the Dave Matthews Band Caravan in Chicago and the Mariposa Folk Festival in Ontario and last night's show at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She performs at the Palladium in Carmel, Indiana, tonight, before heading east for shows in New York state and Massachusetts this weekend. She joins the legendary Levon Helm Band for a concert in New York City's Central Park on Monday to benefit Summerstage.

Reviewing Harris's set at the Dave Matthews Band Caravan, the Chicago Tribune's Bob Gendron writes: "Achy, sympathetic and warm, Harris' quivering whippoorwill voice was the most effortlessly beautiful sound heard at the festival."

With "one of the most affecting, magical, clear and true voices in popular music," according to Time Out Chicago, Harris "proved the perfect act for a mellow festival afternoon."

"In an era when contemporary country music seems strangely disconnected from its past, Emmylou Harris is a singing History channel of traditional song," explains the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Dave Tianen in a review of last night's show at the Pabst.

"One of her strengths has always been the ability to discern good material, and, throughout her career, she has turned to country's roots for inspiration," Tianen explains. And yet, on her new record, Hard Bargain, and the current tour, "Harris is drawing inspiration from her story," having written 11 of the 13 tracks on the album. "This, coming from an artist who has generally relied on others for her material, makes Hard Bargain her most autobiographical and probably revealing album."

Says Express Milwaukee: "For an artist who has made a career out of being a backup vocalist for superstars like Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris sure knows how to stand out."
