Emmylou Harris will join Dave Matthews and a host of guest performers at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on May 19 for the Music Saves Mountains concert, presented by the Natural Resources Defense Council. The concert aims to raise awareness about mountaintop removal coal mining and its consequences for Appalachia. Also performing will be two of Harris's frequent touring partners, Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller.
Emmylou Harris will join Dave Matthews (a guest vocalist on her 2000 Grammy-winning Nonesuch debut album, Red Dirt Girl) and a host of special guest performers at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium on May 19 for the Music Saves Mountains benefit concert, presented by the Natural Resources Defense Council. The concert aims to raise awareness about mountaintop removal coal mining and its consequences for Appalachia. Among the guest artists sharing the stage will be two of Harris's frequent touring partners, Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller, as well as Patty Loveless and Kathy Mattea.
"We must join together with one voice to send the message that we will not sit idly by while our mountains and our inspiration are being blow apart," says Harris. "Together, our music can save mountains."
