Emmylou Harris is scheduled to perform at an all-star tribute to Sir Paul McCartney at the White House today. The concert will take place in the East Room of the White House, where McCartney will receive the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the Library of Congress. He is the third recipient of the prize, following Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon. Wonder, Elvis Costello, Jack White, and White House favorites the Jonas Brothers are all due to perform as well. The event will air on PBS stations across the country on Wednesday, July 28.

There was an early celebration of the Beatles star yesterday at the Coolidge Auditorium of the Library of Congress yesterday, with Harris and the rest of tonight's performers in attendance, along with political leaders like Nancy Pelosi. Following a performance by Lang Lang on a piano that belonged to George Gershwin, McCartney himself took the stage to perform, something attendees at the White House event surely hope he will repeat today.
