Shawn Colvin gave a trio of performances on the East Coast late last week and into the weekend, beginning with a performance at Infinity Hall in Norfolk, Connecticut, on Thursday that showed off her "quirky, thoughtful charm," according to the Hartford Courant. Writer Thomas Kintner, in his Courant review, says the singer-songwriter "eased through a selection of tunes that brought out the luster in her singing."
Performing a solo acoustic set, as she did for the songs captured on her latest Nonesuch release, Live, Colvin "forged riveting moments," says Kintner, from a version of her "'Polaroids' that was poised and pretty," to her "keeping a delicate yet firm handle on the mesh of soft sounds and biting lyrics in 'Summer Dress,'" to vocals that "shimmered and simmered" on songs like "Wichita Skyline" and featured "her dreamy high tone" on the hit "Sunny Came Home."
