The Jazz Journalists Association has announced the 2021 JJA Jazz Awards nominations, including three for Rob Mazurek for the new Exploding Star Orchestra album, Dimensional Stardust; all four members of the RoundAgain quartet, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade; performers on Pat Metheny's album From This Place, including Metheny, Linda May Han Oh, and Grégoire Maret; Jeff Parker for Suite for Max Brown; and Cécile McLorin Salvant, whose Nonesuch debut album is forthcoming.
The Jazz Journalists Association has announced the nominees for the 2021 JJA Jazz Awards, and among those in the Performance and Recordings categories are several artists familiar to readers of the Nonesuch Journal.
Rob Mazurek has been nominated for three awards—Composer, Electronics Specialist, and Large Ensemble for his Exploding Star Orchestra—for his new album, Dimensional Stardust, which was released on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records; all four members of the RoundAgain quartet, saxophonist Joshua Redman, pianist Brad Mehldau, bassist Christian McBride, and drummer Brian Blade, in their respective fields; performers on Pat Metheny's album From This Place, including Metheny, bassist Linda May Han Oh, and harmonica player Grégoire Maret; guitarist Jeff Parker, whose album Suite for Max Brown was released on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records; and Cécile McLorin Salvant, whose Nonesuch debut album is forthcoming.
