Fellow saxophonist Branford Marsalis, who also plays in the area this week, tells San Jose Mercury News writer Andrew Gilbert of the special affinity between Redman and his drummer. "Hutch plays so beautifully, he's the perfect foil for Josh, because it's always nice to be able to play with musicians who don't necessarily think exactly like you," says Marsalis. "There's a certain kind of aggression he has playing with Josh. He has this roar."

Redman talks about the making of the new record in a short video piece, featuring music from the album, a behind-the-scenes look inside the studio, and some very special family photos from his childhood in Berkeley at nonesuch.com/media.

After the Yoshi's residency, the current trio heads to the other side of the Bay for a performance at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz on Monday. For more tour information, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
