Congratulations to k.d. lang, who has been nominated for a JUNO Award for Producer of the Year. lang was recognized for co-producing, with Joe Pisapia, her latest album, Sing it Loud. Another Canadian icon, William Shatner, will host the 2012 JUNO Awards broadcast, airing live on CTV the evening of Sunday, April 1, from Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. Tickets go on sale this Friday. lang and her band the Siss Boom Bang launch their spring/summer tour May 8 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Congratulations to k.d. lang, who has been nominated for a JUNO Award, Canada's music awards, for Producer of the Year. lang was recognized for co-producing, with Joe Pisapia, her latest album, Sing it Loud, released last year on Nonesuch Records and featuring such songs as "I Confess" and "Sugar Buzz." The nominees for the 2012 JUNO Awards were announced by The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) at a press conference in Toronto this morning.

It was also revealed this morning that another Canadian icon, William Shatner, will host the 2012 JUNO Awards broadcast, airing live on CTV the evening of Sunday, April 1, from Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. Tickets for the awards ceremony go on sale this Friday, February 10, beginning at 10 AM ET at www.capitaltickets.ca.

As noted yesterday in the Nonesuch Journal, lang and her band, the Siss Boom Bang, including Pisapia, will head out on the road this spring and summer for a number of performances in North America, starting May 8 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. For details and ticket links, go to nonesuch.com/on-tour.

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
