lang and the band bring their extensive North American tour back up to her homeland of Canada with two festival appearances this weekend: at the Regina Folk Festival on Saturday and the Edmonton Folk Festival on Sunday.
Regina Folk Festival Artistic Director Sandra Butel tells the Regina Leader-Post what a coup it was bringing lang to the event. "I was just at the Calgary (Folk) Festival and saw her show," says Butel. "She is breathtaking. The audience was completely transfixed by her; she puts on a powerful show."

Salt Lake City Weekly's Dan Nailen, reviewing Wednesday's show at that city's Red Butte Garden, calls lang "one of the great pop vocalists of our time," with the proof in the performance.
"k.d. lang is a stylistic chameleon whose career has veered from Patsy Cline-style honky-tonk to Cali-pop to smooth jazz takes on the Great American Songbook," says Nailen. "The only consistent thing about the quirky Canadian is that uncanny, majestic voice that lets her do any ol' thing she wants to do vocally ... At Tuesday's show, lang's incredible vocal instrument was in full effect."
