Kronos Quartet and Brad Mehldau's performances at Koerner Hall in Toronto this week, part of The Royal Conservatory's 21C Music Festival, will stream live at rcmusic.ca/livestream, this Wednesday, May 25, and Thursday, respectively, both at 8 PM ET. Kronos is joined by special guest Tanya Tagaq for the world premiere her new piece written for Kronos' Fifty for the Future project. Mehldau performs his Three Pieces After Bach, of the Guardian exclaimed: "A dense and dazzling recital of Bach’s classics and the compositions and improvisations inspired by them makes this a powerful, thought-provoking gig."

Kronos Quartet and Brad Mehldau's performances at Koerner Hall in Toronto this week, part of The Royal Conservatory's 21C Music Festival, will stream live via the venue's website, at rcmusic.ca/livestream. The Kronos concert takes place this Wednesday, May 25, at 8 PM ET; Mehldau's concert is Thursday, May 26, also at 8 PM ET.

The program for Wednesday's Kronos Quartet concert features special guest Tanya Tagaq and the world premiere performance of Snow Angel—Sivunittinni, her new piece written for Kronos' Fifty for the Future project, as well as Nunavut, the piece she wrote for Kronos in 2006, and more.

Brad Mehldau gives the Canadian premiere of his Three Pieces After Bach on Thursday. The Guardian, reviewing the UK premiere of the piece in December, gave it four stars, saying: "A dense and dazzling recital of Bach’s classics and the compositions and improvisations inspired by them makes this a powerful, thought-provoking gig."     Kronos Quartet's Album 'Pieces of Africa' Inducted Into National Recording Registry at Library of Congress

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
