Laurie Anderson is a featured artist in the Guggenheim Museum's current exhibit The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia, 1860–1989, which examines the influences of Asian culture on American artists. In addition to the inclusion of her work in the exhibit, the museum presents two live performances by Anderson, titled Transitory Life: Some Stories, in the Guggenheim's theater, tonight and tomorrow night.
Laurie Anderson is a featured artist in the Guggenheim Museum's current exhibit The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia, 1860–1989, which examines the influences of Asian culture on American artists and performers. In addition to the inclusion of her In the House. In the Fire. Stories 1972–2008, a collection of spoken stories and sounds associated with her performance work, the museum presents two live performances by Anderson in its theater, tonight and tomorrow night, as part of its The Third Mind Live series, programmed in conjunction with the exhibit.
Titled Transitory Life: Some Stories, the live performances comprise a new collection of adventure stories, poems, and music drawn from her work that reflects what she calls her "practice of attention," influenced by her study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism and meditation. Other performers in The Third Mind Live series include Meredith Monk, La Monte Young, Merce Cunningham, and Yoko Ono.
