Laurie Anderson recently spoke with Billboard magazine about her forthcoming Nonesuch release, Homeland, for an interview published there and by Reuters. "Co-produced by Lou Reed, her husband and longtime collaborator," the article explains, "the album is defined by Anderson's provocative politics and technological innovations."

In the interview, Anderson explains the long process behind the making of the new album—her first studio recording in almost a decade—and her writing process for it.

She also explains why she sought out remix collaborators for the album track "Only an Expert" online, via Indaba Music. "I spend so much time doing it myself," she says, "so I thought, 'This is kind of arbitrary. I wonder what other people would do with this.'" Anderson goes on to discuss her new performance piece, Delusion, and the advantages of having a male alter ego, Fenway Bergamot, who can be heard on Homeland and seen featured on its cover.
