Laurie Anderson will be in Cleveland, Ohio, this Saturday performing Burning Leaves, a selection of songs and stories from her various solo shows The Speed of Darkness, Happiness, The End of the Moon, and, her most recent piece, Homeland, at the Playhouse Square Ohio Theatre.

Anderson is a featured artist in the new Guggenheim Museum exhibit The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia, 1860–1989, which, according to the exhibit literature, "traces how Asian art, literature, and philosophy were transmitted and transformed within American cultural and intellectual currents, influencing the articulation of new visual and conceptual languages." Laurie's involvement stems from her study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism and meditation. In the House. In the Fire. Stories 1972–2008, a collection of spoken stories and sounds associated with her performance work, is included in the exhibit, which runs through April 19.

Next month, Laurie will offer two live performances in the Guggenheim for The Third Mind Live series, programmed in conjunction with the exhibit. The solo performances on March 12 and 13, titled Transitory Life: Some Stories, is a new collection of adventure stories, poems, and music drawn from her work that reflects what she calls her "practice of attention." Other performers in The Third Mind Live series include Meredith Monk, La Monte Young, Merce Cunningham, and Yoko Ono.
