Laurie Anderson is the musical guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight. Tune in for a performance of an excerpt of "Another Day in America," off Anderson's latest Nonesuch release, Homeland, featuring her male alter ego, Fenway Bergamot. The New York Times, in a feature on Anderson that ran upon the album's release last summer, says the song "suggests creative roads not taken." The show airs on NBC tonight, starting at 12:35 AM.
Anderson will be among the participants in this year's PEN World Voices Festival, the organization announced yesterday. She will curate an evening of poetry, featuring Antony and the Johnsons (whose singer Antony Hegarty contributed what the Times calls "ghostly vocals" to "Another Day in America" on the record). Chaired by Salman Rushdie, the festival, now in its seventh year, will take place in New York City from April 25 through May 1 and include such literary luminaries as Edmund White, Malcolm Gladwell, Irvine Welsh, Wallace Shawn, and many others. Laurie Anderson and her husband, Lou Reed, performed a special Valentine's Day duo show at The Stone in New York City last week. She joined guitarist Fred Frith for another duo concert there last night. It's all part of a month of events Anderson and Reed are curating at the downtown space, led by artistic director John Zorn.
