Laurie Anderson will unveil a new sound piece at a unique venue this weekend: in a riverboat lodged atop the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. The performance is part of the Sounds from a Room series, which will take place in A Room for London, a one-bedroom installation designed by David Kohn Architects in collaboration with Fiona Banner and situated on the roof of the Hall. Anderson's performance will be screened live at the St. Paul's Pavilion in London's Royal Festival Hall Sunday evening at 5 PM GMT and webcast live at aroomforlondon.co.uk.

A Room for London, a collaboration between Artangel and Living Architecture, in association with Southbank Centre, will also host artists of other disciplines invited to use the room as their studio to reflect on its place in the world in 2012 through writings, readings, performances, and more. Amadou & Mariam are scheduled to perform in the Sounds from a Room series on May 23, and, as noted in yesterday's Nonesuch Journal, David Byrne has released a new soundwork titled "Get It Away," which he recorded while in residence at A Room for London last month.

The Artangel program is supported by the London 2012 Festival and Arts Council England.
