Björk, whose new album, Biophilia, was released this week on One Little Indian / Nonesuch Records, is the featured guest on this week's Studio 360 from Public Radio International and New York public radio station WNYC. On the show, Björk talks with host Kurt Andersen about Biophilia and its many facets, leading listeners through different tracks on the album and the App, which features a separate component for each track on the album. Studio 360 airs on public radio stations across the country; you can listen now in the streaming player below.

"For the last two decades, Björk has pushed every boundary she could find," says the show. "She’s made beautiful, soulful songs out of electronics, musique concrete, an Inuit choir from Greenland, and her inimitable Icelandic accent that makes English unfamiliar."

Now, on Biophilia, Björk has collaborated with app developers, scientists, writers, inventors, musicians, and instrument makers to create a unique multimedia exploration of the universe and its physical forces—particularly those where music, nature, and technology meet. The project is inspired by and explores these relationships between musical structures and natural phenomena, from the atomic to the cosmic.

The result, according to Studio 360: "Björk’s odes to the mysteries of the universe can be as intoxicating as any love song."

Listen to the Studio 360 segment here.

Entertainment Weekly gives the new album an A-. Reviewer Kyle Anderson calls it "an ingenious marriage of faerie and machine," noting that "the singer's greatest strength remains the glistening natural resource flowing from her throat. "

To pick up a copy of Biophilia, head to the Nonesuch Store, where CD orders and vinyl pre-orders (the vinyl is due out October 24) include high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s of the album; MP3s and FLAC lossless files are also available to purchase.
