Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell stopped by WNYC's Leonard Lopate Show to discuss their decades-long friendship and working relationship, their new album, The Traveling Kind, and its predecessor, the Grammy Award–winning Old Yellow Moon, and to perform two songs from the new album: the title track and "You Can't Say We Didn't Try." Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, whose new duo album, The Traveling Kind, was released earlier this week, marked the album's release with, among other things, a stop at the WNYC studios in New York for an appearance on the Leonard Lopate Show. Harris and Crowell spoke with Lopate about their decades-long friendship and working relationship, their new album, and its predecessor, the Grammy Award–winning Old Yellow Moon from 2013. The duo also performs two songs from The Traveling Kind live, joined by Jedd Hughes on mandolin: the title track and "You Can't Say We Didn't Try."

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
