Mandy Patinkin and his wife Kathryn Grody were on NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday with their son Gideon Grody-Patinkin to talk with host Scott Simon about what Simon calls the "sweet little interrogations of his parents" Gideon first posted to social media during the pandemic and which have offered viewers a glimpse into their lives together. So much so that the family will be in conversation together on stage in North Bethesda on Valentine's Day and New London on April 14, around the ongoing dates for Patinkin's own concert tour. "My suggestion to anyone listening here, if you're having a little tension at home with your spouse, just ask anyone around to turn a camera on," he suggests with a grin. "And everybody's very nice to you. You're treated in ways you've just been longing for, you know?"

On Mandy Patinkin's 2019 album Children and Art, his first new album since 2002, heperforms songs by Randy Newman, Laurie Anderson, Lyle Lovett, Stephen Sondheim, Tom Waits, Rufus Wainwright, Taylor Mac, Teitur, and Patinkin himself. The album was recorded in New York with pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman) and features several songs previewed over the previous two years in the digital Diary series.     Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
