The two began an e-mail correspondence, which eventually led to the creation of this remix. The original version of the song appears on Vagabon's 2019 self-titled Nonesuch debut album.

"This collaboration with Pamcy for the 'Water Me Down' remix is one I'm really excited to share," says Tamko. "Pamcy uses great sounds and samples in her production, which I'm drawn to in my own music, so I can't imagine a better person to remix this song. I first came to find Pamcy through an A&R friend, Tyler Andere, and that tip led me down a rabbit hole of her Bandcamp. We have been pen pals since, and she has inspired me to make more house music (maybe we will make a collection together)."
