Mountain Man continues its first US tour in six years this spring with new headlining and festival dates across the south and east, beginning March 16 in Houston. You can watch a new video of Mountain Man performing "Boat" from their new album, Magic Ship, at a recent sold-out hometown show, here. The New Yorker's Amanda Petrusich has named Magic Ship one of the ten best albums of 2018: "It’s heavy with acquired wisdom, and with vocals so haunting they’ll make you shiver."

Mountain Man continues its first US tour in six years this spring with eleven new headlining dates across the south and east, beginning March 16 in Houston through March 27 at The Barns at Wolf Trap, outside Washington, DC; the trio also plays festivals, including Big Ears and Newport Folk (more summer dates to come). The tour celebrates the acclaimed band's first album in eight years, Magic Ship, which Nonesuch released in the fall (full schedule below; tickets go on sale Friday, December 14).
The New York Times said the album's "intimate, close-harmony songs … tap into an ageless essence of traditional ballads and lullabies as they contemplate companionship, family, love and death," and NPR called the record "a timeless space where three voices are all you need to be transported someplace wonderful." The New Yorker's Amanda Petrusich has just named Magic Ship one of the ten best albums of 2018, saying: "It’s heavy with acquired wisdom, and with vocals so haunting they’ll make you shiver."
Magic Ship includes eleven original songs written by the trio—Amelia Meath, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, and Molly Sarlé—as well as interpretations of Ted Lucas' "Baby Where You Are," Michael Hurley's "Blue Mountain," and the traditional hymn, "Bright Morning Stars."
A new video, featuring Mountain Man's performance of "Boat" from Magic Ship at their recent sold-out hometown show at the Haw River Ballroom in North Carolina, debuts today and can be seen below. The intimate video is directed by is Josh Sliffe of Remedy.
The band said, "Our hearts were warmed by how many beautiful faces we got to see and sing to across the country! A highlight of the tour was singing to all the babies who came to our all ages show at the Doug Fir in Portland. Thank you!"

Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
