Allen Toussaint's performance of "Confessin' (That I Love You)," off his forthcoming album American Tunes, is now available to hear below and to download with pre-orders of the album on iTunes and on CD and two-LP vinyl in the Nonesuch Store. The song, written by Doc Daugherty, Ellis Reynolds, and Al Neiburg and made known by Louis Armstrong, is one of the tracks on the album recorded with a band that includes drummer Jay Bellerose, guitarist Bill Frisell, lap slide guitarist Greg Leisz, saxophonist Charles Lloyd, and bassist David Piltch. (Other songs from the band session also include special guests Rhiannon Giddens and Van Dyke Parks.) The Joe Henry–produced album, Toussaint's final recording, also includes a set of solo piano performances from the legendary New Orleans musician, like "Big Chief," which is also available now with pre-orders.
