Sam Amidon and The Staves perform at the Eaux Claires Festival at Foster Farms in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, this weekend. The festival, now in its second year, is curated by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner. The Staves, who worked with Vernon on both their new EP, Sleeping In A Car, and 2015 Nonesuch Records debut album, If I Was, and performed at the inaugural Eaux Claires last year, return to the festival to perform with the New York City–based yMusic ensemble tonight. Glide Magazine recently praised the trio’s set at Newport Folk Festival, writing that they “brought angelic vocals and ethereal keys to the Fort Stage, drawing eager listeners who likely weren’t expecting to find a new favorite band … [T]hey were enchanting.”

Sam Amidon follows a performance at the historic Gates of Heaven in James Madison Park in Madison, Wisconsin, earlier this week, with a set at Eaux Claires on Saturday. His 2014 album, Lily-O, “opens a window on the American past and lets us feel it like nothing else around," says NPR. The New York Times calls it “hauntingly beautiful.”

Both Amidon and The Staves will join Vernon and Bryce and Aaron Dessner again this fall for a new festival they are organizing at Funkhaus in Berlin in October.

Laurie Anderson, following a screening of her film, Heart of a Dog, at Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York, earlier this week, remains in town to give her Concert for Dogs at Longhouse in on Saturday; interested canines and their companions are welcome to attend. Anderson has given this special live performance at the Sydney Opera House, New York’s Times Square, the Brighton Festival, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Heart of a Dog, Anderson's first feature film in 30 years, is "dreamy, drifty, and altogether lovely," says the New York Times. The complete soundtrack recording is available from Nonesuch Records and contains the full audio recording of the film, including all music and spoken text.

Emmylou Harris concludes her co-headlining tour with Lyle Lovett & His Large Band at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia, tonight, followed by a sold-out concert at the Biltmore estate in Asheville, North Carolina, with Mary Chapin Carpenter, on Sunday.

Harris will take part in a tribute to the late singer-songwriter Guy Clark at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville this Tuesday, featuring her recent duo-album partner Rodney Crowell as well as Steve Earle, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Vince Gill, Iron & Wine, and more.

Lake Street Dive, currently touring North America behind its Nonesuch debut, Side Pony, plays a set at The Huckleberry Jam at the Tamarack Resort in Donnelly, Idaho, on Saturday, and gives a sold-out show at the Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre, with special guest Gregory Alan Isakov, in Salt Lake City on Sunday. The Kansas City Star, reviewing a recent show by the band, called it an “upscale fusion of pop, soul and jazz,” praising the group’s “warm, organic fusion of four varied talents with a concerted affection: for music that provokes and entertains.”

Punch Brothers conclude their five-city run in Australia with shows at City Recital Hall in Sydney tonight and the Melbourne Recital Centre on Saturday. Out in Perth called their recent concert at the Riverside Theatre a “magical performance,” praising the “great subtlety in their performance, clever layering of different musical sounds on top of each other, moments of silence and quietness, and vocal harmonisation that provoke thoughts of cathedral choirs.” The West Australian gives the show five stars, lauding the band’s “astonishing virtuosity.”
