Kronos Quartet heads out on tour for four European dates, beginning with a set at the Great Evangelical Church in Bratislava, Slovakia, tonight, as part of the Viva Music Festival, followed by a set at the Cloister of Santo Domingo Convent in Mallorca, Spain, on Saturday, as part of the Festival de Pollença. On the typically eclectic tour program are works written or arranged for the quartet, including pieces by Terry Riley, Bob Dylan, Pete Townsend, Geeshie Wiley, Bryce Dessner, Omar Souleyman, Clint Mansell, and Fodé Lassana Diabaté, whom Kronos has commissioned as part of its Fifty for the Future project.

This week marks the 30th anniversary of Kronos Quartet's self-titled Nonesuch debut album, which includes works by Peter Sculthorpe, Aulis Sallinen, Philip Glass, Conlon Nancarrow, and Jimi Hendrix. The Washington Post called it "some of the most imaginative music of our time."

The Arcs play a free show at the Surf Lodge in Montauk, New York, tomorrow. Their live show has been described by the New York Times as a "rock and soul revue that can knock out Motown beats, fuzz-toned boogies or slow-grooving R&B." The Washington Post says, "When the Arcs take the stage, expect a party among friends that takes its form in expansive solos, singalong choruses and general merriment."

Lake Street Dive continues its North American Side Pony tour with two shows in Colorado: at the majestic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, as special guest of Grace Potter, tonight, and a set at the Strings Music Festival at the Strings Music Pavilion in Steamboat Springs on Saturday. The Kansas City Star, reviewing a recent show by the band, called it an "upscale fusion of pop, soul and jazz," praising the group's "warm, organic fusion of four varied talents with a concerted affection: for music that provokes and entertains."

Conor Oberst is in Colorado as well, headlining the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, following Mavis Staples to close out Saturday's main stage events. Punch Brothers play a special event at Penner-Ash Wine Cellars in Newberg, Oregon, on Saturday, to benefit the Children's Cancer Association's MyMusicRx program. Tickets include complimentary food by Chef Scott Dolich and wine.

The group has just returned from a stellar Australian tour, earning praise and five-star reviews from start to finish. The West Australian, in its five-star review of the tour-launching show in Perth, noted the band's "astonishing virtuosity." The Sydney Morning Herald, reviewing the penultimate tour date at City Recital Hall last weekend, gives that show five stars as well. "With a fluid synchronicity the five became one living, breathing form, ebbing and flowing as pitch-perfect melodies and harmonies were passed around delicately," says the Herald. "Led by the crystal clear vocals of Chris Thile, the five effortlessly traversed genre and time, with a bewitching southern charm."
