Rostam concludes the winter leg of his US Half-Light tour in California this weekend, with sold-out shows at Slim’s in San Francisco tonight, as part of the Noise Pop festival, and El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday. The Daily Beast calls Half-Light “a sublime collection of baroque pop ... one of the more extraordinary records of the year.”

While on tour, Rostam stopped by the Current in Minneapolis, joined by a string quartet, for a live session of two songs from Half-Light and a cover of Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon,” which he had previously performed for Spotify Singles. You can hear the Current session and interview here.

The next leg of the tour begins at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville in late March. Rostam heads to Europe in late May.

---

Dan Auerbach continues his Easy Eye Sound Revue, featuring music from his latest release, Waiting on a Song, with shows at Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin tonight and the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Sunday.

---

Rhiannon Giddens, who celebrated a birthday this week, joins Soul Science Lab, Leon Bridges, Rapsody, and Abiodun Oyewole at the Apollo Theater on Saturday, for Soundtrack '63, a special concert in which the music and images of the pivotal year in the Civil Rights Movement are re-contextualized for the sights and sounds of the present. Pitchfork exclaims: "Rhiannon Giddens emerges as a peerless and powerful voice in roots music.”

As noted earlier today in the Nonesuch Journal, k.d. lang launches the month-long US leg of her Ingénue Redux Tour with two shows at the Vashon Center for the Arts in Vashon Island, Washington, tonight and Saturday. The twenty-city tour continues with stops in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Denver, St. Louis, Boston, and more, culminating with a performance at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on March 26.

The tour follows the release of the Ingénue: 25th Anniversary Edition on Nonesuch last year, in celebration of the Grammy and Juno Award–winning album's silver anniversary. "Ingénue still dazzles, 25 years later,” exclaims Uncut. “A modern classic … Perfectly pitched, in pretty much every way.”

---

Audra McDonald joins the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, conducted by Andy Einhorn, at Music Hall on Sunday. New York Magazine raves: “It’s entirely possible that Audra McDonald is the greatest singer alive.”

---

Robert Plant continues his sold-out North American tour with his band the Sensational Space Shifters, bringing music from his new album, Carry Fire, to Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre in Denver on Saturday. The Evening Standard exclaims in a four-star review: "Inventive and exotic, Carry Fire proves Plant’s creative spark is still burning bright."

“There’s all sorts of music everywhere,” Plant tells the Chicago Tribune in a recent interview. “And everybody of a certain stature is always looking for the next hike into the next great musical adventure. I just figure, considering I was supposed to just be a rock singer I’ve been very fortunate to modify what I do and give bits and pieces of my energy to people to change it around a bit.” You can read the interview here. And you can hear what Plant told MPR's The Current about his new album, singing with Chrissie Hynde, and touring with the Sensational Space Shifters here.

The Staves are in Australia this weekend, performing a set at Centennial Park in Sydney on Saturday, as part of Sydney City Limits Music Festival, followed by a show at The Triffid in Brisbane on Sunday.

The trio has released a digital EP of six songs recorded live at Pine Hollow studios in Eau Claire, WI, aptly titled Pine Hollow. You can download it now on iTunes and in the Nonesuch Store, and listen via Spotify and Apple Music.

---

Chris Thile hosts his public radio show Live From Here at the show’s home base, the Fitzgerald Theater in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday. Joining Thile as special guests for the episode are Dr. Dog, Ibeyi, and comedian Dan Naturman. Madison Cunningham joins him as his duet partner this weekend.

Folks in the US can tune in on their favorite public radio station this weekend, and fans around the world can watch live online at livefromhere.org starting at 4:45 PM CT.
