Joshua Redman and his Quartet—pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Reuben Rogers, and drummer Gregory Hutchinson—are in New York City this weekend, concluding a week-long residency at the Blue Note, playing three sets a night tonight and Saturday, followed by two sets on Sunday.

The New York Times, in recommending the shows, says: “Mr. Redman’s place is secure as one of the most effusive and engaging tenor saxophonists in straight-ahead jazz,” adding that his bandmates are “all well attuned to his language of elastic tenacity.”

Fleet Foxes take their Crack-Up tour to Singapore, performing at the Esplanade Theatre in Marina Bay on Sunday. The band heads to Malaysia and Japan next week, before returning to the states in March. Pitchfork calls Crack-Up the band’s “most complex and compelling album to date." Emmylou Harris headlines the 30A Songwriters Festival at the Grand Boulevard Town Center in South Walton, Florida, this weekend, performing tonight and Saturday. The New York Times has called Harris “the reigning queen of Americana.” The Wall Street Journal says: “Her voice remains an open channel for otherworldly beauty, earthy and ethereal in equal measure.”

Earlier this week, The Recording Academy—the organization behind the Grammy Awards—announced that Emmylou Harris is among the honorees to receive its Lifetime Achievement Award this year.
