David Byrne continues the US leg of his American Utopia world tour in Chicago this weekend, with three sold-out shows at the Auditorium Theater tonight, Saturday, and Sunday, all with special guest Benjamin Clementine. "It’s honestly hard to believe the amazingness of David Byrne’s live show," exclaims Seattle Weekly's Seth Sommerfeld in his review of last weekend's set at Sasquatch! music festival. "Byrne radiates a joy while performing that few—if any—musicians can match."

Byrne “redefines what a concert can be,” writes the Minneapolis Star Tribune’s Howard Liszt, reviewing a recent performance there. “This show was a seamless combination of interpretive dance, dramatic lighting, unbridled energy and infectious songs, all performed by a tribe of 12. It was an uplifting and unforgettable treat. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen.”

Sam Amidon plays a headlining set at the Fire in the Mountain festival in Aberystwyth, Wales, on Saturday, then kicks off a four-city Irish tour at Inishbofin Community Centre in Galway, Ireland, on Sunday, as part of Inishbofin Island Conversations. Amidon released his latest album, The Following Mountain, on Nonesuch last year. The Irish Times gives it four stars, calling it “breathtaking … a fascinating signpost to the future.”

Pianist Tigran Hamasyan is in the UK this weekend, joining trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær and The London Vocal Octet at Barbican Hall in London on Saturday, followed by a solo performance at St. George’s Bristol on Sunday. NPR writes: “As a pianist and composer, he draws inspiration from jazz, folkloric and classical sources, in ways that feel both hypermodern and practically ageless.”

---

Lake Street Dive takes its North American Free Yourself Up tour out West this weekend, with a set at Fort Buenaventura Park in Ogden, Utah, tonight, as part of Ogden Music Festival, and a headlining show at Montbleu Resort Casino in Stateline, Nevada, on Saturday. The band shared a live performance video of the album song “Hang On” earlier this week; you can watch it here.

Rostam launched a two-week tour of the UK and Europe at Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona yesterday, continuing with a set at Victoria Park in London for All Points East on Saturday as a special guest of The National.

Rostam has released Half-Light Remixes: EP 1— reimagined versions of four tracks from his 2017 debut album, Half-Light—yesterday. The EP features new takes from Tourist, Jim-E Stack, Instupendo, and Matsor Projects, and is available to download and stream here.
