Caroline Shaw’s Orange, performed by Attacca Quartet, is out now on New Amsterdam and Nonesuch Records. The album, featuring six of the composer’s pieces for string quartet, has received widespread critical acclaim. NPR Music included Orange on its list of “The 10 Best Albums We Heard in April.” It's “an arresting tribute to the enduring art of the string quartet,” writes NPR's Tom Huizenga. “Think string quartet music is just a fusty classical formula? Orange proves it is spectacularly alive and evolving.” Mojo gives it four stars.

Pianist Jeremy Denk continues his ten-date tour with violinist Joshua Bell and cellist Steven Isserlis at New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Prudential Hall in Newark on Sunday. The program includes works by Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel.

Denk’s new album, c. 1300–c. 2000, is “a thoughtfully curated, beautifully played, brilliantly annotated recital,” raves BBC Radio 3’s Record Review. The Sunday Times calls it “thrilling and deft.”

The Brad Mehldau Trio—Larry Grenadier on bass and Jeff Ballard on drums—begins a two-week European tour at Théâtre des Salins in Martigues, France, on Saturday.

Gaby Moreno begins a ten-date tour as part of A Bowie Celebration: The David Bowie Alumni Tour in New Zealand this weekend, with concerts at Aotea Centre’s ASB Theatre in Auckland on Saturday and Christchurch Town Hall in Christchurch on Sunday. Moreno joins several of Bowie’s past collaborators for the concerts, which continue in Australia, Hawaii, and Mississippi.

Joshua Redman and his Trio—drummer Gregory Hutchinson and bassist Reuben Rogers—conclude their European tour in the UK this weekend with a set at Cheltenham Town Hall on Saturday, as part of Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

The Joshua Redman Quartet—Hutchinson, Rodgers, and pianist Aaron Goldberg—released its first album in nearly two decades, Come What May, last month on Nonesuch Records. The Times of London gives it four stars, noting that “nothing beats the cool confidence of a band who have spent years on the road. It also helps that the seven Redman tunes here are so good ... Four men playing as one.”

Rokia Traoré is the Guest Director for the 2019 Brighton Festival, launching the month-long series of events with a performance of music from her 2016 Nonesuch album, Né So, at Brighton Dome Concert Hall on Saturday. She brings the UK premiere of her theatrical and musical project Dream Mandé to the festival later this month.
