The Black Keys' Brothers lands at No. 2 on NPR's All Songs Considered listeners' picks of The Best Music of 2010. Also on the list are Carolina Chocolate Drops' Genuine Negro Jig and Ben Folds and Nick Hornby's Lonely Avenue. All Songs Considered producer Robin Hilton says of Brothers: "I think this is their fattest, richest, most sonically diverse album that they've done." Philip Selway's Familial has made the NPR All Songs Considered list for Best Album Covers of 2010. Carolina Chocolate Drops' Genuine Negro Jig is No. 4 on the Americana Music Association's Top 100 Albums of the Year.
At the start of the month, NPR announced its 50 favorite albums of the 2010, including The Black Keys' Brothers and Carolina Chocolate Drops' Genuine Negro Jig in the alphabetical listing. Now, the NPR listeners have weighed in by the tens of thousands and confirmed the NPR staff's selections, placing Brothers at No. 2 and Genuine Negro Jig at No. 45 among All Songs Considered listeners' picks of The Best Music of 2010. Joining them on the list is another Nonesuch album: the Ben Folds and Nick Hornby collaboration Lonely Avenue, coming in at 87.
On the latest episode of All Songs Considered, host Bob Boilen and producer Robin Hilton gather to play songs from the Top 25 listener favorites and offer their two cents. Boilen calls Brothers a "straight-ahead great rock record." Producer Robin Hilton says: "I think this is their fattest, richest, most sonically diverse album that they've done. It's gritty, it's raw, there's elements of funk and soul and garage rock, glam rock even with T. Rex. It's a hard-kicking rock record."

Philip Selway's debut solo album, Familial, has made another NPR All Songs Considered list: The Best Album Covers of 2010. Even as album covers have transitioned to digital pixels for many listeners, says NPR's Michael Katzif, album art remains an important piece of the music experience and "sets a tone for how we visually imagine the music in our minds." Carolina Chocolate Drops have made still another year-end-best list today, as Genuine Negro Jig lands at No. 4 on the Americana Music Association's Top 100 Albums of the Year.
