The NPR Music listeners have spoken, choosing their 100 favorite albums of 2011, and coming in at No. 6 is The Black Keys' brand-new Nonesuch release, El Camino. As NPR says, "The Black Keys swooped into the No. 6 slot with El Camino, an album just a few days older than the poll itself." NPR's All Songs Considered, in a special two-hour episode, counts down the top 25 albums on the list, playing a song from each album, El Camino included, from which they play the first single, "Lonely Boy." Also on the list of NPR Music listeners' Top 100 is Björk's latest album, Biophilia, and Emmylou Harris's Hard Bargain.

"I was pretty thrilled by this list," says All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen. "I was pretty proud of our listeners."

The list of fan favorites follows the NPR Music staff's recent choices of the year's best albums, which includes Steve Reich's WTC 9/11 among its Ten Favorite Classical Albums of 2011 and James Farm's self-titled debut album among the Best Jazz Albums of 2011. James Farm's "Polliwog" also makes NPR Music's list of its 100 Favorite Songs of 2011, described as "an instrumental with more engaging, rollicking episodes than most sitcoms out there today," as Björk's "Virus," off of Biophilia, which NPR calls "a stunning minimalist song about how science and humanity (or lovers, or an iconic musician and her fans) interact."
