Pat Metheny's Orchestrion tour continues to wind its way through Europe this week, after three stops in Scandinavia this past weekend, with a performance at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels Tuesday and at Barbican Hall in London on Wednesday. Just in time for the London concert, UK radio aired interviews with Pat yesterday. You can listen to BBC Radio 3's Jazz Line-up segment at about 14:40 in at bbc.co.uk and to the Jazz FM interview with Helen Mayhew, who calls the Barbican show a pick of the week, at about 18:47 in at jazzfm.com.

Also in the UK, the Observer's Dave Gelly says that with all that Metheny has invested into creating this labor of love, "The result is extraordinary." The songs on the album are "gripping as usual," says Gelly, "while the busy tinkling and plunking that surrounds him is by turns bewildering and hypnotic. Metheny's notes and pictures complete the experience." Read more at guardian.co.uk.

Back in North America, where the tour heads in April, the Edmonton Journal gives the album 3 1/2 stars, calling it a "lovely recording," citing "the guitarist's trademarks: tasty arrangements; rise-and-fall dynamics; a purposeful flow of sound; and, of course, brilliant guitar playing."
