Paul Thomas Anderson will give his new documentary Junun its Los Angeles premiere on Sunday, November 15, at The Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles, where he had given a pre-release screening of his film Inherent Vice. This past spring, Anderson joined Jonny Greenwood, Shye Ben Tzur, and a group of Indian musicians as they recorded the album Junun in a makeshift studio at Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. The film chronicles the making of that album. The film is currently streaming on MUBI. The album, due November 20 on Nonesuch, is now available to pre-order.

In spring of 2015, Anderson joined Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, Israeli musician Shye Ben Tzur, and the Rajasthan Express, a group of musicians from across the Indian sub-continent, on a trip to Rajasthan in Northwestern India. The group was hosted by the Maharaja of Jodhpur at Mehrangarh Fort. What resulted was an intimate, eclectic, multi-cultural sonic journey. Junun (or, "the madness of love") chronicles the making of the album by the same name, recorded in a makeshift studio at the fort. The east-west meeting of musical minds has been heralded by the Hollywood Reporter as "a transporting film that places us right there in the room, living and breathing a singular artistic experience."
After its world premiere screening at the New York Film Festival on October 8, Junun had its exclusive online premiere on subscription streaming platform MUBI the following day, where it continues to stream till November 7. The album Junun will be released by Nonesuch on November 20 and is available to pre-order on iTunes and on CD and vinyl in the Nonesuch Store with an instant download of the album track "Roked."
