Director Robert Wilson and composer Philip Glass's famed 1976 opera Einstein on the Beach is the subject of a feature article in this past Sunday's New York Times Arts & Leisure section by John Rockwell. With this year's international tour of Einstein on the Beach set to bring the work back to New York City for the first time in 20 years, in an eight-performance run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) September 14–23, the article examines the work's historical significance, its own history, and the place of the current production in that context. Read the article at nytimes.com.

In honor of the return of Einstein on the Beach to New York City and of Philip Glass’s 75th birthday, the composer is the subject of a six-day celebration on Q2 Music, the online new-music station from WQXR in New York, starting today. Titled Music of Constant Change: A Philip Glass Festival, this survey of Glass's career runs through Sunday, September 9, and is set to include music, interviews, videos, and more. And head to the festival blog, Glass Perspectives, for notes from Laurie Anderson and Kronos Quartet’s David Harrington, excerpted from the 2008 10-disc compilation Glass Box: A Nonesuch Retrospective.

As part of the festival, Philip Glass—who was in Central California over the Labor Day weekend for a Q&A/screening of the 1982 film Koyaanisqatsi and a performance with kora player Foday Musa Suso—will participate in An Hour with Einstein, a conversation about and performance from Einstein on the Beach at The Green Space in New York City, featuring members of the current tour of the opera, this Saturday, September 8, at 3 PM ET. The special event will be videocast live.
