Punch Brothers have announced several shows in Japan and Australia for this August, starting with a three-night residency at Blue Note Tokyo August 3–5, followed by a tour of Australia: in Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne. Tickets are on sale now. The new dates follow the band's US spring tour, which begins in a double bill with Dave Rawlings Machine in Charleston on April 29 and includes sets at the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and much more.

Punch Brothers' latest album, The Phosphorescent Blues, produced by T Bone Burnett and released on Nonesuch last year, was called "triumphant" by the CBC. The Herald Scotland says it's "a quite masterly collection from a quintet of virtuosi [that] deserves to be filed next to the best work of The Beach Boys, Big Star and Richard Thompson.
