In honor of the exciting news that Randy Newman will be among the 2013 Inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Newman was featured on Friday's episode of NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross. The show opens with his solo piano-and-vocal recording of his classic tune "Political Science" from his 2003 Nonesuch debut album, Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 1, and includes two past Fresh Air interviews: a 1992 interview with Newman seated at a piano in the Fresh Air studio that touches on his early years, and a 1999 interview that followed the release of his box set Guilty: 30 Years of Randy Newman. Listen to the show at npr.org.

Newman, who has described the induction into the Hall of Fame as "a great honor," recently spoke with both Rolling Stone and Billboard magazines about that honor, highlights from her career thus far, and what he's working on now. Read the articles, respectively, at rollingstone.com and billboard.com.

The 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE on Thursday, April 18, 2013. The show will be broadcast on HBO at a later date.
