Congratulations to Randy Newman, winner of the PRS for Music Special International Award at the 58th Ivor Novello Awards in London last night. The awards, which honor excellence in music writing, are presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) and judged by the writing community. Peter Gabriel presented Newman with his award at the ceremony. The 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, at which Newman was inducted into the Hall of Fame last month, will be presented on HBO this Saturday night.

Randy Newman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which took place at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles last month. The ceremony will be presented on HBO this Saturday, May 18, at 9 PM ET/PT. Randy Newman was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Don Henley and gave a performance with Jackson Browne, John Fogerty, and Tom Petty at the ceremony. Three of Newman's fellow inductees—Heart, Public Enemy, and Rush—performed as well. The ceremony also honored Albert King and Donna Summer, as well as Lou Adler and Quincy Jones, this year’s recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement. Newman will perform live in concert at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey, on June 14 as part of the organization's gala celebration of film.     Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
