Randy Newman is the guest on the latest episode of WTF with Marc Maron, ahead of the release of his new album, Dark Matter, on August 4 (with vinyl to follow on August 18).

"I can't tell you what an honor it was for me to have him in here, because I love him, I love his work, I've always liked him as a person. When I was a kid," says Maron at the start of the show, "he was one of the first guys that really blew my mind ... The first records I had were Good Old Boys and Sail Away—I must've been in junior high—and I was like, man, this stuff is beautiful, it's poignant, it's cutting, it's funny, I just ... I loved him, and I always have loved him."

Maron goes on to say in his introduction to the interview: "Randy Newman, one of my heroes ... He's got a new record out, called Dark Matter, which is great. It's like a real Randy Newman record from back in the day ... He is a great satirist, a very bright guy, sharp. I loved talking to him."
